I think we need a reality check! This month I wanted to expand on "reality" as I often mention the connotation of it in past posts. I wanted to emphasise here that we do have control over our physical realities. I say "our realities" because we each create our own realities according to our experiences and personal beliefs. But because what we see and feel seems so indestructible we think there's only one way of seeing and feeling.
"One person's craziness is another person's reality." Tim Burton
I know it's hard to understand why on earth would we create unwanted things like illness, poverty and etc. We would rather blame a higher power or something else than ourselves because we do not fully understand, if at all, how our thoughts and feelings form our realities.
"It's funny how humans can wrap their mind around things and fit them into their version of reality." Rick Riordan
However, it isn't our fault we don't take responsibility for what we create because we have been taught to internalise what's on the outside rather than the other way round. We are physically focused people and have been taught, especially, in the western world to trust our five senses. Therefore, we try to look for solution after the event instead of preventing it in the first place. If we just realise that we externalise what's inside of us by other thoughts and emotions we might just have a chance to change our circumstances.
"As water reflects the face, so one's life reflects the heart." Proverbs 27:19
Sometimes, unfavourable circumstances can teach us a lot and does have a place by way of expanding our experiences. For example, I learnt more about my inner-self and creativity as a result of my long-term health condition. I know, now, that I create my physical reality because I am into the habit of studying myself. Nevertheless, I still find it hard not to re-act to my physical environment and, hence, creating what I don't want merely by not wanting it ( you see the trick is to focus on what you want and the good feelings). But all is not lost! Our feelings/emotions continuously let us know what we are up to so that we can tune in and evaluate the thought or action that is creating the emotion. For example, whenever I have an important meeting I start getting anxious or fearful. This emotion tells me 1 of 2 things. Firstly, I am over thinking the scenarios of the coming event or I need to go well prepared. Now, if I ignore these feelings the meeting may be a success or failure. If it turns out well I would have been worried for nothing. But, if it's disaster, I may then blame the people at the meeting for not liking me or on other circumstances.
"Your emotions make you human. Even the unpleasant ones have a purpose. Don't lock them away." Saba Tahir
Now my friends, I challenge you to make your own observations. A fun book to try our experiments is called E-Squared by Pam Grout.
Reflection is more than we see in a mirror
Our stage, our play, our role
Will determine whether
we are a winner or loser
when faced with a sinner
Do we recognise our inner-self
That resonate with misdemeanour
I am a person who is into self development and I am always learning and striving to be the best of myself. I like to empower others to make a difference in theirs and others lives. I also like to express myself creatively through poetry. "I'm an architect, of myself...."
